question Contacts Moving Around (Guest)
Posted: 3:34:19 pm on 7/3/2002 Modified: Never

My contact lenses feel like they are moving around on my eye, which makes my vision blurry and is annoying. What can I do about this?

I had the same problem with the Freshlook Colors - I really wanted color lenses, but they were big and moved a lot. I want to try the Acuvue Colors but my doctor doesnt have them.

A healthy fit should move slightly on the eye but not actually slide off or decenter. A doctor evaluates the fit through a microscope to see if the movement is excessive. It is very unhealthy to wear a lens with NO movement.

It can also mean u have the contacts backwards cause my eye doctor told me to look at the lens straight ahead, and see which side has more of a bowl shape (the sides don't flare out) and that is the correct side.

It can sometimes be tough to see if the lens is inside-out (especially with lower prescriptions and thin disposable lenses).  Quite a few brands (including Acuvue) now have markings on the lens that can help you be sure you have it right.

I have Acuvue Colors and I have the same problem. My contact lens kept moving around everytime I blink. It doesn't seem to be center with my eyeball making my vision blurry. This sucks!

Hello, I am new to the contact game and have a weird problem.  I have had my contacts float to the top of my eyeball about 4 times so far.  My wife has to drag them down for me, otherwise I do not know what I would do.  I think my problem may be that I let my eyes get too dry, I bink and my contacts stick to the top of eyeball where it is wetter.  Has anybody heard of such a problem.  The eye doctor said the fit was good when I got them.  Please help.

Rick

Yes it could be that your eyes are getting dry and the lens is sticking to your upper lid.  This would esp. apply if this happens more toward the end of the day. See if rewetting drops help. You may also want to try a lens that is replaced more frequently such as Ciba Focus Dailies or a lens with a thinner edge design such as Acuvue 2 two-week disposables.  Hope this helps. ELC

Thanks for your help.  I will just use the rewetting solution more even if I do not think I need it, as I really cannot tell when they are dry.  It does seem like the problem is at the end of the day, even though it has happen around the middle of the day as well.  And I am using Provision Premium 55 lenses which is a 2-week lense.  What is the time frame that I should use the rewetting drop, no matter if I think I need the drops or not?  Something like every 4th hour, as I am still getting use to the contacts and have no idea when they are dry?  Thanks again for your help.

Rick

I have the same problem with the Acuvue opaques, they are the right diameter and base curve but it's not sitting on center.  Have you had any luck returning the contacts for a refund.  I'm in the process of trying right now.  Plus I'm wondering if there might be some type of gel or solution that might help them stay in place??
