Purevision toric contact lenses are currently the only toric contact lens that is approved for 30-day wear. The lens is made from the revolutionary Silicone Hydrogel material Balafilcon A used in the Purevision spherical lens and uses the patented AerGel process. In clinical testing, Bausch and Lomb reported that the lens compared very well to their popular Soflens 66 Toric contact lens in that they had similar stability compared to that lens. Also, 82% of patients reportedly preferred PureVision Toric to their previous contact lens for consistently sharp vision. They also reported that the lens causes no significant corneal swelling during overnight wear. This is great news for patients needing a correction for astigmatism. Now they can have the freedom to wear contacts daily or, subject to their doctor’s approval, for up to 30 days of continuous wear.
